Who have made the best signings ahead of transfer deadline day?
With the transfer deadline day underway, we have taken a look at some of the best signing ahead of today.
In the business of sports betting, who could have put a bet on Christian Eriksen moving from Ajax to Tottenham for just £11.5million this summer? That signing could prove to be the best signing made by any club this summer.
Tottenham have also splashed the Bale cash on the likes of Erik Lamela from Roma in a £25.7million deal and Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest for £8.5million. It will also be interesting to see how Etienne Capoue will manage in the Premier League. Capoue joined Tottenham from French side Toulouse for around £9million last month. Spurs also spent a staggering £17million on the signing of Paulinho from Brazilian side Corinthians.
Chelsea reportedly faced competition for the signing of Samuel Eto'o and may have made a brilliant piece of business with the signing of the striker from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala on a free transfer.
West Ham's signing of Stewart Downing from Liverpool for just £5million could prove to be a good piece of business as well. The transfer fee is low, compared to the fees in today's market and Downing should have a better chance to prove himself at Upton Park than he had with all the pressure at Anfield.
Stevan Jovetic had long been linked with a move to the Premier League and he finally joined Manchester City in a £22million deal from Italian side Fiorentina in July. It will be very interesting to see if Jovetic can manage to live up to the expectations at Eastlands. City also splashed £30million on the signing of Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk. Fernandinho won the Uefa Cup with Shakhtar in 2009 and could play a key role at City this season.
Marco van Ginkel, who joined Chelsea from Vitesse Arnhem for just £8million, has impressed so far at Stamford Bridge. Andre Schurrle joined the Blues from Bayer Leverkusen for £18million.
The biggest deal of the transfer window will clearly be Gareth Bale's move from Tottenham to Real Madrid. For around 100million euros the 24-year-old moved from White Hart Lane. The huge transfer fee will put massive amounts of pressure on the Welsh winger and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. Should Bale fail to make the expected impact at the Bernabeu, they could both be out the door.
