PREMIER LEAGUE new boys Southampton are hoping to snatch Celtic’s Beram Kayal and pair him up with former Rangers star Steve Davis in the heart of their midfield.

Boss Nigel Adkins believes the pair will add grit and guile to his side and could offer the SPL champions £5million for the Israeli.

Kayal, 24, penned a new deal at Parkhead last season that keeps him at the club until 2015 so the Hoops have no need to sell.

But with uncertainty still surrounding the Sky TV deal, Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon could use cash from any player sale to finance his summer spending.

Lennon has an abundance of midfielders at his disposal including Scott Brown, Victor Wanyama and Joe Ledley.
