Fiorentina have shored up their defence ahead of the new season with the signing of Jose Maria Basanta from Mexican side Monterrey.
The Argentina international, 30, who made two appearances in the South American side's run to the World Cup final, made over 200 appearances for Monterrey but has now sealed his switch to Florence for an undisclosed fee.
A statement on the Viola's official website said: "Fiorentina announces that it has purchased outright, the rights to the football player Jose Maria Basanta from Club de Futbol Monterrey."
