Bayern Munich have won three and drawn two games in the Bundesliga this season

Bayern Munich scored four unanswered goals to reassert their authority in German football and end Paderborn's brief stint as Bundesliga leaders.

The visitors' hopes of an upset were quickly dashed as Mario Gotze slotted home before Robert Lewandowski volleyed in from the edge of the box.

The home side added to their tally with two late close-range finishes from Gotze and Thomas Muller.

The win takes Bayern top of the league with Paderborn dropping to fourth.

Andre Breitenreiter's side certainly did not embarrass themselves at the Allianz Arena and with a bit more composure in front of goal could have scored more than once against a Bayern side whose budget is 25 times that of their own.

Once again utilising the high pressing game that had helped them win two and draw two of their opening four games, Paderborn wasted a great chance at 2-0 when Idir Ouali broke free but produced a weak shot that was smothered by home goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Neuer was again called into action with a diving save to deny substitute Suleyman Koc, before Bayern wrapped up the game with their two late goals.
