Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs has played down the chances of Leigh Griffiths making an emergency loan move from Celtic.

Stubbs admits he admires the 24-year-old and Celtic boss Ronny Deila has confirmed there has been interest in the Scottish forward.

However, both men insist there is currently no deal on the horizon for Griffiths to return to the Championship club on a temporary basis.

Griffiths has not started a game for Celtic since the 1-0 defeat at Inverness on August 23.

The former Livingston and Dundee player moved to Parkhead from Wolves in January after impressing during two season-long loan spells with Hibs in 2011/12 and 2012/13.

Stubbs told Sky Sports News HQ: “I think everyone knows that we enquired before the deadline but as far as anything else goes that was it.

“He’s a good player but that’s it – I can’t say anything more on the matter. It’s one of them and it hasn’t come from us.

”I can’t rule anything in because there is nothing happening. If anything changes I would report on that but, where we are at this moment in time, there is nothing to report.”

Deila said: “I know there has been interest but we haven’t made an agreement so we will see what’s happening.”
