Lazio president Claudio Lotito was thrilled to see Filip Djordjevic open his Serie A goalscoring account in style at Palermo.

The Serbia forward scored a hat-trick in Monday's 4-0 triumph in Sicily to hand the Biancoceleste their first win on the road this season.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Roman outfit this summer from Ligue 1 side Nantes, had failed to score in Lazio's opening four Serie A games.

"I'm delighted for Djordjevic," Lotito said to Corriere dello Sport. "He deserves all the praise.

"He is a great champion and I hope he can continue to surprise us."

Lazio had lost three of their opening four league games and had failed to keep a clean sheet prior to Monday's match.

Lotito is confident the victory at Palermo will be a turning point in Lazio's season.

"The win against Palermo allows us to recover our confidence and hope for the future," he said. "We gave an important response on the pitch.

"Against Palermo we saw the true Lazio, a team that has pride, determination, unity and gets results."

Lazio, coached by Stefano Pioli, are ninth in the standings and host Sassuolo on Sunday.
