Karl Darlow is hoping to repay the support he has received since agreeing a move away from Nottingham Forest.

The highly-rated goalkeeper has formed part of a double deal that will eventually see him and City Ground colleague Jamaal Lascelles link up with Newcastle United.

Both men have been allowed to remain with Forest for the remainder of the 2014/15 campaign, with loan terms included in the agreement to take them to Tyneside.

Darlow insists that he remains fully committed to the Reds cause despite seeing his future away from the club and is determined to ensure that he leaves with Forest ready to join him in the Premier League ranks.

I look forward to the new challenge in the summer, when it comes, but I am delighted to be playing for such a great club right now.

The 23-year-old said in the Nottingham Post: “My goals have not changed – I still want to help Nottingham Forest to win promotion.

“Whichever team I play for, I am going to give 100 per cent. That will be the same throughout my career.

“Not only does it reflect on me, but I also want to see this club in the Premier League.

“Hopefully we can keep grinding out the results away and pick up a few more wins at home. If we can do that, we will eventually get there.

“Not a lot has changed for me, because I am still playing for Forest and I am settled here having played here for the last couple of seasons.

“I look forward to the new challenge in the summer, when it comes, but I am delighted to be playing for such a great club right now.”

Darlow added on the emotions he and Lascelles have experienced since agreeing to move on: “We came through the academy ranks and this is a club that is in both of our hearts.

“Jamaal has been here since he was eight, I think, and I have been here since I was 16.

“I have always been grateful for the support I have had here, grateful for how people have dealt with me and looked after me.

“The support has been great since I came back. I know it is difficult for some people to accept the decision, but I am grateful to those who have welcomed me back.”
