Harry Redknapp insists QPR were denied a blatant penalty in the late stages of his side's 2-1 defeat by Arsenal at the Emirates.

With QPR a goal down but playing against 10 men after Olivier Giroud's sending off, Bobby Zamora appeared to be brought down by Kieran Gibbs inside the area.

Referee Martin Atkinson, who had already given a penalty to both sides in the game, was not moved, along with very little appeal from the QPR players.

Harry Redknapp says QPR were denied a definite penalty

But boss Redknapp has criticised the decision, saying Zamora was clearly dragged down by the Arsenal defender.

He said: "It's a blatant penalty, for sure, I've looked at that.

"When Bobby came in he couldn't believe he didn't get the decision. He was dragged down for sure.

"He'd probably already given two, but it was a penalty for sure, no doubt about that."

More from Arsenal V Qpr

Redknapp, whose side equalled a Premier League record of nine straight away defeats, says QPR only starting taking the game to the hosts when they pulled their way back into the game with 11 minutes to go through a Charlie Austin penalty.

Arsenal Wenger accepted Olivier Giroud's red card for violent conduct

"I wasn't pleased with the first half," said Redknapp. "They dominated, even when they went down to 10 men that was when we really had an opportunity.

"It wasn't until we got back to 2-1 that we suddenly took the game to them.

"We weren't positive enough at 1-0 against 10 men and for them to score was the worse possible thing. To go two down was a massive blow."

QPR are still just two points above the drop zone, and have home games against Crystal Palace and Swansea to come over the busy New Year period.
