Harry Kane proud to have reach the big 30 in Tottenham win

Harry Kane was a proud man as he scored his 30th goal of the season in Spurs' 3-1 Premier League victory at Newcastle.

Kane stroked home Spurs' third goal in time added on at St James' Park as Spurs condemned Newcastle to a sixth successive league defeat.

By scoring Kane became the first Spurs player in 23 years to pass the 30-goal mark in a season and he is hoping to score a few more during the run-in in a bid to secure European football for the north Londoners next season.

"I'm very proud but there's still five games left so hopefully I can get a few more goals and it doesn't stop here," he said.

"Obviously I'm delighted with the 30 goals but the most important thing is that we keep winning games."

Jamie Carragher, Niall Quinn and Glenn Hoddle all praised Harry Kane's achievement of reaching 30 goals in one season

The England striker's effort came after Christian Eriksen had restored Tottenham's lead minutes after Jack Colback had dragged Newcastle back into the game by cancelling out Nacer Chadli's first-half opener.

The victory was only Tottenham's second in five matches and came after a disappointing draw at Burnley a fortnight ago and last weekend's home defeat against Aston Villa.

"I think we deserved it today, we played very well," Kane said.

"We had two disappointing performances in the last couple of weeks and we wanted to put it right.

"Credit to the lads we really played well and deserved the three points."
