St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson is facing a "minimum of three months" on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The 27-year-old stretched his cruciate and suffered bone bruising in Thursday's 1-0 Europa League qualifying defeat to Alashkert.

"It's still bad news but at least not confirmation of what our worst fears were last night," Saints boss Tommy Wright told the club website.external-link

"Murray has been so unlucky with injuries."

Davidson moved to the Perth club from Livingston in 2009 and missed eight months of action in 2014 with a knee problem.

"I'm disappointed for him that he'll miss the opening part of the season but, weighed against what we feared, there has to be a certain level of relief for everyone," added Wright.
