Bournemouth must get used to losing - Tommy Elphick

Cherries can compete - Elphick

Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick says his side will have to get used to losing more games as they prepare for their first Premier League season.

The defender, 27, has won two promotions in three years with the Cherries to rise from League One.

"We'll have to get used to not winning as many games as over the last three years," he told BBC South Today.

"It's important we draw a line under last season, start believing we deserve to be in the Premier League."

Elphick, 27, was an ever-present as he led Bournemouth to the Championship title last season.

They face Aston Villa on the opening day of the season on 8 August.

"We have to take the game to teams as that's what we've done so well for the last three years," he added.

"We've made it about us. Obviously we go into each game with a different game plan, but it has to be about us at home."
