Norwich will be without Youssouf Mulumbu for the first few weeks of the Premier League season after the midfielder suffered a fractured metatarsal.

The Canaries begin life back in the Premier League at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday but they will be without Democratic Republic of Congo international Mulumbu.

The former West Brom man joined on a free transfer earlier this summer but was injured during Saturday’s friendly with Brentford and is scheduled to undergo surgery.

Manager Alex Neil told the Norwich website: “Unfortunately, Youssouf has a fractured metatarsal which requires immediate surgery.

"We anticipate his recovery should take several weeks and this is something we will be able to assess further after the operation has taken place."
