Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney - Paul Merson names best XI from Arsenal and Manchester United

Paul Merson has revealed his best line-up from Arsenal and Manchester United's squads ahead of their Super Sunday clash.

The Magic Man has somewhat surprisingly gone with just three players from his former club Arsenal, with league leading Manchester United commanding the majority of positions.

Based on their current form, here's who the Soccer Saturday pundit has gone with...

David De Gea is straight in there as he's one of the best in the world and saves United so many points

Then I've gone for two United full-backs, with Daley Blind in there at left-back, just to fit him in as he's been outstanding, along with Matteo Darmian, who has also impressed me.

Chris Smalling is improving every week and has done really well this season, while Laurent Koscielny is the only Arsenal man in there. If he didn't play for us God knows where we'd be.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick are unlucky to miss out and Louis van Gaal has done well to get three players in there that he can rotate, but Morgan Schneiderlin has settled really well, while I'm not Francis Coquelin's biggest fan but he's so important to Arsenal.

Then I've got to have Juan Mata in there, he's been outstanding and playing as well as at his best at Chelsea, while Alexis Sanchez is a no-brainer.

Manchester United fans might even question my decision to have Wayne Rooney in behind the striker but he's a big-time player and you just watch how influential he is on Sunday.

Rooney's best role is in behind the striker, touching the ball the ball 40-50 times and getting on the ball not 10-15, even if he has to come and get it.

Would I have Mesut Ozil in there? I don't think so. Aaron Ramsey has gone too long without a goal. Santi Cazorla is unlucky to miss out but his form has also tailed off a bit.

Then up front I'm going with the boy that has settled quicker than snow - Anthony Martial.

To come in at 19 with a big, big price tag at a big club and play that sort of football - what his done there is very underestimated. He's got world class potential, there's no doubt about it.
