Hertha Berlin and Ingolstadt took advantage of a slip by Wolfsburg to move into the top five of the Bundesliga on Saturday with home victories.

Vedad Ibisevic was on target twice for the second week running for Hertha as they won 3-0 against Hamburg, Salomon Kalou netting the other for Pal Dardai's men.

Their reward was fourth place for a night, with Wolfsburg crashing to their second defeat of the season, a 2-0 reverse at a resurgent Borussia Monchengladbach, who made it three wins in a row after starting the season with five straight defeats.

The win will also boost Andre Schubert's hopes of being given the Gladbach job on a permanent basis with the Foals now four points clear of the relegation zone.

The lower reaches is where many would have expected to see Ingolstadt after eight games of their first season in the German top flight, but instead they are going from strength to strength with their first home win of the season coming on Saturday.

Pascal Gross and Stefan Lex etched their names in the club's history books as the scorers of the first goals for the home team at the Audi-Sportpark, with Ingolstadt rising to fifth as a result with a 2-0 triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Northern rivals Hannover and Werder Bremen have endured difficult starts and went head to head, with Hannover defeating Bremen 1-0 at the Niedersachsenstadion thanks to Salif Sane's header.

Stuttgart continue to prop up the rest of the division heading into the international break having picked up only a point from their trip to fellow strugglers Hoffenheim, from a 2-2 draw.

League leaders Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund in Sunday's big match, while third-placed Schalke are also in action at home to Cologne and Bayer Leverkusen can move up to fourth with a win against second-bottom Augsburg.
