Sky sources have told us that Derby County have dismissed approaches from more than 30 managers or their representatives, who are interested in being considered for the head coach's job at the iPro Stadium.

But we understand Derby's chairman, Mel Morris is determined to allow Darren Wassall the opportunity to prove himself in the role for the remainder of the season at least. He is favourite for the job long term.

Wassall has a very close working relationship with Morris, and the two men are family friends.

Sources have told us that former Leicester manager Nigel Pearson's representatives made an initial inquiry about the job, but it's been made clear that Derby are not entertaining applications from anyone at present.
