Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal appears unlikely to be fit for Spain's Euro 2016 bid because of a hip injury.

Carvajal was injured during the Champions League final on Saturday night, being forced off early in the second half and leaving the field in tears.

He had a scan on Monday in Madrid and it revealed a grade two tear of his hip flexor muscles, an injury that would usually keep him out for at least a month.

"After the tests carried out at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, Daniel Carvajal has been diagnosed with a grade two injury to the right iliopsoas," said a statement from Real Madrid.

"His recovery will continue to be assessed."

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has to name his final 23-man squad by Tuesday and said after the 3-1 win over Bosnia that Carvajal's place would go to Arsenal's Hector Bellerin if the 24-year-old is unavailable.

A regular in the U21 squad, Bellerin made his senior debut in Sunday's 3-1 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina and has remained with the squad.

"It would be a dream come true to play at the European Championship," said the 20-year-old. "I had summer plans with my girlfriend. I did not suspect they would call me but it was a great joy."

When asked about Carvajal, Bellerin added: "First of all I hope he recovers well and soon. He's a team-mate and that's what is most important. With regards to me, I'll stay here until the coach decides."

Spain open their Euro 2016 campaign against the Czech Republic on June 13 and also face Turkey and Croatia in Group D.
