Andy Hessenthaler has been sacked as Leyton Orient manager less than six months after replacing Kevin Nolan at the Matchroom Stadium.
The 51-year-old, who replaced Nolan in April on a caretaker basis before signing a one-year deal at the club, becomes the first managerial casualty of the new campaign.
He leaves Orient in 14th place in Sky Bet League Two, having won just three league matches this season, with assistant manager Andy Edwards assuming control of first-team affairs on an interim basis.
Edwards will take charge of Orient for their home match against league leaders Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday.
"The club can confirm that Andy Hessenthaler has been relieved of his role as first team manager," an Orient statement read.
"We would like to thank Andy for his service to Leyton Orient since arriving in July 2015 and wish him well in his future career.
"Assistant manager Andy Edwards will be assuming Hessenthaler's duties on an interim basis and will take charge of the team for tomorrow's night's Sky Bet League Two home game with Plymouth Argyle."
Hessenthlaer becomes the sixth Orient manager to be sacked by owner Francesco Becchetti since the Italian's takeover of the club in 2014.
