Liverpool transfer news and rumours: Max Kruse, Thomas Muller, Naby Keita

SINSHEIM, GERMANY - DECEMBER 21: Max Kruse of Bremen is seen during the Bundesliga match between TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen at Wirsol Rhein-Neck

All the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Thursday, July 20.

Liverpool could go head-to-head with champions Chelsea over the signing of Werder Bremen forward Max Kruse, according to Sport Bild.

The Germany international, who scored 15 goals in 23 Bundesliga outings last term, is understood to be on the radar of the two Premier League clubs, who are keen to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

It's claimed Bremen would not stand in the way of Kruse so long as their £16m valuation is met by potential suitors.

The Sun, meanwhile, claim Liverpool and Chelsea are joined in another transfer tussle by Arsenal, with the Premier League trio interested in Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller.

After an underwhelming 2016/17 campaign in front of goal, the Bundesliga champions' capture of James Rodriguez has plunged Muller's future at the Allianz Arena into doubt.

Serie A champions Juventus are also understood to be interested in the Germany international, who Bayern insist is not for sale.
