We round up the latest Chelsea transfer rumours from around the British and European press on Wednesday, August 23.

Chelsea are planning a shock double raid on Leicester City for England international team-mates Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater ahead of the conclusion of the transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Blues are said to be readying a £30m offer to prise the midfielder away from the King Power, while Vardy - a target for Arsenal last year - would provide competition in attack as the Diego Costa saga continues, though no potential fee has been touted.

Antonio Conte's men are also pursuing other avenues, with a fourth bid for Torino striker Andrea Belotti a possibility, according to the Express.

Belotti has a €100m release clause in his contract with the Serie A club, with Monaco prepared to offer €80m, and Chelsea €75m for the 23-year-old.

Elsewhere, Sport Bild claim that officials are shortlisting candidates to replace Premier League winning boss Conte.

Former Borussia Dortmund chief Thomas Tuchel and ex-Barcelona manager Luis Enrique head up the list apparently drawn up by Roman Abramovich and director Marina Granovskaia have two principal candidates in mind to replace Conte should the Italian leave Stamford Bridge.

But club sources have confirmed to The Independent that there is no succession plan in place for the Italian with Tuchel not a name on their radar.
