The winner of the inaugural Football Writers' Women’s Footballer of the Year award will be announced on Sky Sports News on Tuesday.

For the first time in the 71 years, the Football Writers' Association will also be honouring the Women's Footballer of the Year with the winner being revealed on Sportswomen live at 11:30am.

All five players on the shortlist are members of Phil Neville's England squad and include Lyon defender Lucy Bronze, Manchester City forward Isobel Christiansen, Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs, Seattle Reign's Jodie Taylor and Chelsea forward Fran Kirby who won this year's PFA Player of the Player of the Year award.

The shortlist was chosen by a panel of 22 members from the FWA who report on women's football.

A sub-committee featuring England internationals Alex Scott and Rachel Brown-Finnis will help to decide the winner.

They are part of a selection panel that also includes Sky presenter Jane Dougall, who will be joined by former England international Sue Smith on Sportswomen on Tuesday when the winner will be announced.
