Sydney FC ‘talking to’ former Premier League striker Adam Le Fondre amid reported deal

SYDNEY FC have confirmed they are ‘talking to’ former Premier League striker Adam Le Fondre over a potential switch to the club.

The Sky Blues are in contact with a number of targets over their vacant strike role, with the search to replace Bobo after the front man departed for Turkish side Alanyaspor.

“Adam is one of a number of players we are talking to but at the moment no deal has been completed. We are continuiing to discuss options with a number of players and will confirm to our members first as soon as any deal is done,” a club spokesperson told foxsports.com.au.

It is understood that any move for Le Fondre would fall under the A-League salary cap rather than a marquee deal.

The English Championship side said in a statement they had released the fan favourite to a pursue an “opportunity of a lifetime” at an overseas club, with the the Bolton News linking him to the Sky Blues.

The 31-year-old le Fondre - who also has stops at Rotherham United, Reading, Cardiff City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic over his career - boasts 12 goals in the Premier League from 34 appearances.
