European papers: AC Milan open Aaron Ramsey talks, Gareth Bale irks Real Madrid

Even in the international break, teams across Europe are frantically forming transfer strategies ahead of the January transfer window.

With so much going on, we asked our friends at Football Whispers to scour the European media to bring you the best stories from the continent.

Italy

New AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has already opened discussions with Aaron Ramsey's representatives over signing the Arsenal midfielder next summer.

Ramsey is a free agent in 2019 and looks set to leave the Emirates having refused to renew his contract. Gazidis, who left Arsenal for Milan last month, always had a good relationship with the 27-year-old and Milan hope the two can reunited at San Siro. (Corriere dello Sport)

Andy Townsend told the Debate that Aaron Ramsey will never be in a stronger position than he is now and should stand firm in contract talks with Arsenal

Marcelo Brozovic will sign a new contract with Internazionale, taking the Croatian international through to 2021. The midfielder had been in discussions with the club since the summer following his fine performances at the World Cup and will earn a salary increase while his release clause, which is only valid for clubs outside of Serie A, has been raised to €70m. Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt remains a Barcelona target and the La Liga champions have already begun negotiating for the Dutch international. Barca want another right-sided centre-back to ease Gerard Pique's workload and eventually become his long-term replacement.

Real Madrid are losing patience with Gareth Bale over his commitment to the club and overall performance. The Real hierarchy are angry he flew to Wales ahead of their friendly against Spain despite leaving the field against Atletico Madrid injured.

Bale won't play in Cardiff but various board members believe he put his personal interests before that of the club, while his performances as Madrid's highest-paid player continue to fall below expectations. The 29-year-old is also said to be an isolated figure in the dressing room. (Mundo Deportivo via Telemadrid)

Espanyol centre-back Mario Hermoso remains a Real Madrid transfer target following his fine start to the season. Madrid considered buying the 23-year-old in the summer if they were to let Jesus Vallejo to leave on loan, but instead decided against a transfer.

However, Hermoso's performances in La Liga have not gone unnoticed at the Bernabeu with Real able to buy their former academy player back for just €7.5m (£6.5m) after he left the club in 2017. (AS)

The representatives of Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba are concerned the club has not approached him over a new contract. Alba's present deal runs until 2020 and, although the Spain international is confident he will finish his career at the Camp Nou, his agents are worried they have heard nothing from the Spanish champions for more than a year.

Alba was close to joining Chelsea at the start of 2017 having told friends Cesc Fabregas and Pedro he was considering a move. (AS)

France

Leonardo Jardim has been officially sacked by Monaco today with the club negotiating with Thierry Henry to succeed the Portuguese. Henry turned down the chance to take over as Aston Villa because of the interest from his former team.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez, who hired Henry as his assistant in 2016, has said Henry is "ready to take a job" with a club. (L'Equipe)

Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez has revealed he turned down an offer to sign for Real Madrid. The France international and World Cup winner, who is under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2024, was offered the chance to join younger brother Theo, who left Atletico to join Real Madrid in 2017.

But Hernandez said: "Atletico are the club of my life, they have given me everything and for those reasons it would be impossible for me to join Madrid." (RMC Sport)

Germany

Bayern Munich have drawn up a list of eight transfer targets for next summer including Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey and Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic.

Bayern are set to spend significantly in 2019 having been quiet in the transfer market for the last two years. Other players being considered are Frankfurt's Ante Rebic, Lille's Nicolas Pepe, Florian Thauvin of Marseille, Nabil Fekir of Lyon plus Ajax starlet Frenkie De Jong. (Sport Bild)
