It's the Betfred Cup blockbuster, the monster at Murrayfield, the first of Super Sunday's sumptuous semi finals.

Yes the Hearts vs Celtic clash in the capital has all the ingredients to be an absolute barnstormer. A near 67,000 sell-out, the league leaders against the champions and cup holders, Craig Levein versus Brendan Rodgers.

The bookies might be backing the double Treble winners to reach Hampden but Hearts are pumped up and confident of upsetting the odds.

And so they should be given their start to the season which sees them six points clear of the Hoops at the top of the Premiership.

The Jambos dished out a 1-0 beating to Celtic in their only meeting of the season so far - just a drop kick from Sunday's venue over at Tynecastle.

But who will come out on top this time? That's the question we put to our writers on the Record Sport desk. Here's what they had to say...

Keith Jackson

This is perhaps the single biggest threat there has been to Celtic’s monopoly of Scotland’s silverware - especially given the state of the Parkhead casualty room. Hearts will take the holders all the way and could pip them at the post but Brendan Rodgers always seems to find an answer in the end.

Momentum is with the Jambos just now and they can capitalise on a jaded and depleted Celtic side with Steven Naismith likely to play a key role again.

Gary Ralston

This has the potential to be a classic with Celtic’s domestic form returning and Hearts fearing no-one from atop the Premiership. Expect goals galore.

Hearts 2 Celtic 3

Craig Swan

Celtic have the attacking talent to edge Hearts in what promises to be an exhilarating encounter. It should be competitive and explosive, but the cup holders can get it done.

Hearts will certainly fancy their chances of reaching the League Cup final and rightly so. And they have the psychological advantage of posting a league win against Celtic already this season. However the Hoops have rediscovered their domestic mojo and will have too much in the tank for the Jambos and I can’t see Brendan Rodgers men relinquishing their grip on the treble just yet.

This is a semi-final which could go the distance with Hearts more than capable of causing what would be a mini-upset given Celtic’s defensive issues. If Peter Haring declares himself fit then it’ll be a major bonus for Craig Levein’s men but the Hoops should have the quality to edge it by the odd goal.

This will be a cracker and I’ve just got a feeling the force is with Hearts at the moment. Flying in the league, confidence high, and managing to cope with their injuries. Celtic were superb against Hibs, but they’ll miss Brown, Boyata and Griffiths and they’ll be praying Rogic is fit. It’ll be tight but the Jambos might just edge it.

This is a golden opportunity for the Jambos playing in their back yard against an injury-ravaged Celtic side trying to shrug off the hangover of another European defeat. But it won’t be that straightforward. Hearts at Murrayfield is a less imposing proposition than their Tynecastle stronghold and they have injury woes of their own with John Souttar, Christophe Berra and Uche Ikpeazu. On the big surface against a Hoops side renowned for bouncing back from disappointing results, this may end in disappointment for the league leaders.

Hearts are flying and will never have a better chance to topple Celtic. The Hoops are missing several top men and Craig Levein’s side have already caused them grief this term. This could be another big day for the Jambos.
