Scotland skipper Andy Robertson is on the verge of doubling his salary as Liverpool look to deal in their rampaging defender.

The former Queen's Park star's rise is the stuff of legend and Jurgen Klopp is desperate to tie down one of his key men on a bumper new deal.

Robertson is poised to double his money as gets ready to put pen to paper on a bumper new £60,000 deal at Anfield - which we revealed last month.

That's a heft pay packet for a player who used to turn out for the Hampden amateurs just five years ago.

Scotland captain Andy Robertson is set for a bumper new Liverpool deal

But where does Robertson rank compared to his fellow Scottish stars in the Premier League? The money is flowing in England as teams pay far more than others top leagues around the world.

Record Sport Online crunches the numbers and ranks Scotland's top earners in the top flight down south.

Scott McTominay - £25,000 p/w

Scott McTominay

He gained the trust of Jose Mourinho to follow the Manchester United boss' instructions to perfection and earned kudos for his display against Liverpool last year. McTominay has struggled this season after being asked to play as part of a three-man central defence against West Ham and Newcastle. In reality, his long-term future may not be at Old Trafford but there's no doubting McTominay's potential. The midfielder's pay is just a drop in the ocean compared to Alexis Sanchez's ridiculous £350,000-per-week salary. The Chilean is starting to look like one of the worst signings in recent memory.

Ryan Fraser - £27,000 p/w

Fraser's growth down south has been incredible. The former Aberdeen kid has bulked-up and is now a permanent fixture in Eddie Howe's Bournemouth side. The 24-year-old has netted four times already this season for a side in the top half of the Premier League. There's a real hope he gets the chance to shine for Scotland under Alex McLeish and there's a case to be made he would already be capped by England if he was eligible. His weekly pay isn't shabby but is miles behind former Rangers target Jermain Defoe - as the veteran striker rakes in a weekly salary of £103,000.

Andy Robertson - £30,000 p/w

Andy Robertson is a cult hero at Anfield

The man of moment. He is one of the best players in Premier League and his current deal is one of the biggest bargains in the league. He cost just £8million from Hull and you would struggle to name a better player in his position on the planet. He's that good and doubling his salary is the least he deserves. Even when he goes up to £60,000, that will still be way short of what Egyptian king Mo Salah rakes in with the wing wizard on a stonking £200,000 per week at Liverpool.

Stuart Armstrong - £35,000 p/w

The rampaging midfielder left Celtic in the summer in an £8million deal to test himself in the Premier League. On the pitch, it hasn't quite worked for Armstrong so far but he's earning decent money and started in the 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday. Armstrong has been used as a squad player so far - and that is reflected in his salary. The Scotland international is one of Southampton's lowest-paid senior players and earns less than half of what striker Manolo Gabbiadini does. The Italian rakes in a cool £80,000 per week.

Robert Snodgrass - £40,000 p/w

Snoddy earns good money at West Ham

Playing for West Ham, you would expect Snodgrass to be well renumerated but you can't deny the former Leeds and Hull star has had to work for his earnings. He was discarded by former boss Slaven Bilic but a stirring loan spell with Aston Villa gave him a second chance with the Hammers and he's played 16 games in all competitions under Manuel Pellegrini. Despite his sizeable earnings - the former Livingston man is a way behind top earner Javier Hernandez - with Chicharito earning a mind-boggling £140,000 every week, which is good for more than £7million annualy.

Matt Ritchie - £45,000 p/w

The winger flashed glimpses of his undoubted quality under Gordon Strachan but the Newcastle man has been asked to not be considered for selection under McLeish. The winger earns a serious pay packet after his £12million move from Bournemouth. Ritchie was linked a move to Championship side Stoke in the summer - but his reported £60,000 per-week wage demands put the kibosh on that. Ritchie is well paid but he is still £25,000 behind Jonjo Shelvey who nets a cool £70,000 per-week.

James McArthur - £50,000 p/w

James McArthur is top of the pile

Living in London and netting cool £2.6million per annum - life's good for McArthur. The former Hamilton Accies midfielder is making some serious dosh and signed a new deal until 2021 at Crystal Palace until 2021. The 31-year-old has enjoyed a fine career and has been well-rewarded. He was a star for Roberto Martinez at Wigan and has become one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League. He retired from international football last month after a raft of injuries in recent times. Belgian striker Christian Benteke might struggle to find the net but his agent deserves a medal as he earns £120,00 per week.
